Use "Ask For Help" whenever you can, 3 for airplanes and 1 for each train! This also helps other players, who get rewarded when they fill your orders. You want to buy all Goods from the market every 6 hours (except for some field Crops if you don't have enough room in your Barn). This requires a fair amount of time, but it will make you grow much faster than anyone else. Keep all Farms and Factories producing Goods, reducing idle time to a minimum.
The most important activity is to get as many Goods (and similar items) as you can. Build Farms and Factories, and use other assets, to increase your production and thereby speed up your growth even more. Gain levels and population to unlock new options. The main goal is to grow your town as fast as possible, while participating in (and usually winning) all events. Without spending any real life money, your new town will be level 50 within a month, if you are active and keep your productivity up! I've been playing Township for a month and i learned a bunch of tips and tricks that i would love to share.
